I have never been a sucker for packaging as much as I have been for Too Faced. Not only are they a cruelty free brand with affordable prices, but they also keep their products looking interesting with a slight hint of 90’s colours and designs. After having purchased their mascara I was soon on a slippery slope down the rest of their cosmetics line and have slowly acquired a batch of products that I’ve become obsessed with. While I may not be the most avid makeup user, I know what works best for me and my skin tone, so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites.
BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA
There’s no denying that this is one of the best mascaras on the market. I’m not saying I’ve tried many high-end brands, but Better Than Sex lengthenS and thickens my lashes enough to have me constantly coming back. Like many other products I discuss on my blog, I’ve been introduced to them via other bloggers. These suggestions can be hit or miss because everyone’s taste and eye shapes are different, but I’ve only read good reviews about this mascara so I thought I would give it a chance. If you ignore the price (think back to a simpler time when I discussed a more fiscally friendly mascara on my previous post) you’ll realize how much you get out of the formula and the shape of the brush to the point where the price becomes worth it. Especially if you wear mascara every day. Luckily, Too Faced has also released a mini version of the product for someone who may want to try it but not commit to the price just yet. I’m not sure if this is a permanent thing or if it’ll be taken off the market, but I stopped by Sephora recently and notice them sitting pretty in the checkout aisle.
LA CREME LIPSTICK
This is the new lipstick that pushed me into VIB status and I haven’t been able to stop using it. Funny story: I initially went into Sephora looking to buy a different colour, but when I left the store I realized I had picked up the wrong one. The silver lining to this story is that I ended up really loving the colour. The shade is called ‘Spice Spice Baby’ and it’s kind of between a brown and a pink—I’m sure it’ll look different on various skin colours. My favourite thing about this product is that it’s thick, but still glides onto the lips smoothly and doesn’t leave them sticky. That’s incredibly rare to find. It also seems to last a fair amount of time (seeing as I’ve had it on my teeth before for hours) despite eating or drinking anything. In Canada, there are only a few colours in stores, but there are many more online so I’ll probably be having a browse on their in a little while.
I’ve mentioned this primer before, so I don’t want to go too much into it and how I use it with my current face makeup (check out this post!), but I can say that it’s been fairly enjoyable putting on something smooth and refreshing first thing in the morning. I’ll occasionally wear it without any BB cream because I find that it gives the skin a nice sheen without looking oily. As a disclaimer, I haven’t used any other primer before because of my lack of liquid foundation experience, but I’ve realized how much of a difference this one makes when I wear anything on my face for a longer period of time.
COCOA POWDER FOUNDATION
All I really have to say about this powder is that it smells like chocolate. Is that enough? Have you been sold on it yet? If not, then I’ll go into a bit more detail on how it’s a nice, thick consistency, unlike my Mac mineralize skin finish, so it covers a lot more on the face. I used this throughout most of last winter because I was getting a few blemishes from the dry weather, and I noticed that this helped combat it a bit. The formula is buttery smooth and allows your skin to breath a bit, so you’ll notice some oil forming (at least I did) on your forehead. The only issue I’m having with this is that I am a few shades darker than the colour I bought back in December, so it makes me look a bit washed out. I guess I’ll have to spend a few more nights curled in bed watching Netflix to get back to my pale skin tone
LOVE FLUSH LONG LASTING BLUSH
I am a blush fiend. I just love the look of rosy cheeks like you’d get on a crisp autumn day or after a workout. It makes the skin look fresh and vibrant without having to put too much effort in. My main issue with blushes was that they don’t last a very long time or they end up sliding down your cheeks if you get a bit sweaty. So, when I heard that Too Faced had a 16 Hour blush I knew I had to pick one up. The shade I chose was Love Hangover, which is fairly popular because it’s a brighter pink, perfect for the apples of the cheek. Another reason why I was set on buying this product was because the packaging was beyond cute. Too Faced is always killing it with their branding and it’s gotten to where now I know exactly what is theirs just by a few colours or designs. Despite all the great things I’ve said, there is one thing to be aware of. The powder is extremely pigmented and once it’s on your skin, it’s not budging. I’ve learned that I have to tap my brush out a few times before application and that sometimes there’ll be enough on your brush for a second use.
Do you like Too Faced as much as I do?
