THE COAT // This is probably one of the most typical wardrobe items this season, but I can’t get over how much of a staple it is. I’ve searched high and low for one that suits my style and it seems almost impossible to find one that will satisfy the elevated image I have in my head. So, I’ve decided to check out a few thrift stores and see if I can find one that is older and perhaps a more unique style. Even dishing out a bit more cash for higher end brand wouldn’t be horrible since I know, with the right quality, it will last me a long time.
THE SCARF // Yes, I am travelling into the territory of ‘basic’, but how can I pass the current oversized scarf trend without giving it a try myself? I am all about feeling cozy during the colder months, and having a giant scarf wrapped around me is the closest thing I’ll get to wearing a blanket outdoors.
THE GLASSES // I have worn glasses for more than 10 years of my life and I’ve gone through about 5 pairs of them. Mostly I tend to switch them out depending on the current styles or, in my younger years, because I outgrew them. But now I am getting another itch deep inside telling me to find another pair that I will enjoy wearing more (or a bit more) than my every day contact routine. My goal for this pair is a neutral colour that’s still a bit interesting and different, and primarily comfort. I love the look of the big plastic frames, but without a bit of aluminum in there, they become heavy and irritating throughout the day. The pair above cuts out some of that bulk having the frame stop at the top of the lenses. The nose rest is also key in comfort, so I am opting for the rubber ended one instead of the plastic ridge built that is typically into the frame.
