The month is slowly coming to an end which means not only do I have to buy a new metro pass and begin stressing that the summer is almost over, but also means that I am moving! After 24 years of living with my parents I have finally taken the plunge and rented an apartment with my boyfriend. It is the second level of a house—something quite common on the east of Toronto especially near the beach. The 20-minute walk to the water and all the unique and delicious restaurants are what kept us in the area as his lease ended.
That being said, transitioning from my own bedroom to sharing one with him is going to be a change, especially when it comes to storage. Luckily, we both have our own dressers so we wont be fighting for drawer space, but I’ve also learned that I have too much makeup for someone who really doesn’t wear much on a daily basis. This means I’ve had to get a bit creative with how I store it all; vertically instead horizontally has given me much more space for my jewelry and perfumes.
Like most other bloggers on the interweb, I have opted for the Muji stackable drawers seeing as the store recently opened up in Toronto (or maybe it was always there and I’m oblivious). I already love them because of how easy storage is within each shelf. The width and height of each one fits everything perfectly from powders to eye shadows to liquid lipsticks. I’ve already made a promise to myself that I can’t exceed the space in those drawers or else I’ll have to start throwing things out.
Now I am trying to figure out the best way to store my jewelry. I’ve been using white dishes to hold the majority of it, but I find that it makes the space look a bit messy and haphazard. I’m sure once I get settled into my new place I’ll figure out what I need and what can be given away or thrown out depending on its condition. There are some necklaces I’ve had since I was 14 years old…maybe it’s time to retire them.
Are there any storage ideas that work for you?
