I am the kind of person that will stick with the same thing for months, maybe even years if I really do love it, so it’s hard to compile a specific group of favourite items. However, June as been a fairly inspiring month that has allowed me the opportunity to experience and try out various products and things that I have slowly grown attached to. This post will be about the few things I’ve picked up in June or already had but never really took the time to test out and form any opinions about.
MAC STUDIO FIX POWDER PLUS FOUNDATION || First and most importantly is the base I have been using for the past little while. Since my skin started breaking out erratically it has been incredibly hard for me to find the right product to cover up the annoying blemishes that seem to always pop up to the surface. I’m not the biggest fan of liquid foundations—I find that the hassle of messily applying it in the mornings and constant awareness not to touch your face outweighs the satisfaction of a flawless face. So, I usually opt for a powder foundation and I have been absolutely obsessed with the studio fix powder. It gives just the right amount of coverage and keeps my face free of any extra oil throughout the day. And the best part is that I can touch up after a long day at work if I find that I’m getting too spotty or had a messy lunch.
SOAP & GLORY HAND FOOD || I’ve constantly been hearing about Soap & Glory, not realizing that it’s technically a drug store brand. Right up my alley! I picked up the hand cream as a way of testing out the brand and haven’t been able to stop using it. I may have squirted some on right now as I write this blog post praising it. Not only is the formula the perfect thickness without being too oily, but the scent is something I’ve never really smelled before and it has now been burned into my brain. I’m half way through 2 bottles of the hand cream and plan on picking up a few more of the brand’s products in the next little while.
NYX LIP CREAMS || When NYX opened up in Toronto, I instantly knew it was a popular brand because of the enormous line outside of the store. To my surprise, they also began selling it in drugstores so I couldn’t resist trying out a few of their lip products. The two I picked up are both are lip creams with very distinct colours that I haven’t ever used before. The formulas are something I am still getting used to because I don’t usually wear lip creams, but I’ve tested out the suede one and was very impressed at how little it moved throughout the day. I am excited to try out a few more of the company’s products in the months to come.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY’S INSTANT LOOK IN A PALETTE || I’ve already written a post about this palette so I won’t go into too much detail about this. I will just say that I have used something from this palette almost every day and can’t get enough of how versatile it is. This brand is a bit more on the pricey side so I don’t know how often I will be shopping from them, but for the time being I will be thoroughly enjoying this effortlessly beautiful palette.
SIMPLE JEWELRY || June has been a month of simplicities for me so I haven’t really felt the need to wear big statement jewelry pieces. It’s mostly been about airy, minimal designs that still add something to an everyday look. Currently I’ve been loving this simple silver ring and bar earrings. Both pieces are stainless, which is key for me because, as mentioned before, I can be careless at times. It’s hard to go wrong with silver jewelry so I tend to stick to it a bit more than gold or rose gold, although I would like to dabble in those as well.
Is there anything you’ve loved this past month?
