I wouldn’t say that I’ve struggled with acne in my life, but it’s definitely been a part of the ups and downs. As we learn from early puberty, hormones change our bodies from head to toe, inside and out without any care about our self-esteem or social presence. Now that I’m in my twenties, I assumed I wouldn’t be dealing with this anymore, but no such luck. Spontaneous spots and blemishes will continue to inflict annoyance for years to come.
After the constant battle with my skin throughout the winter (which is typical) and into spring (not so typical) I decided to try a few skin care 3-step programs. First was Clinique’s Acne Solutions. While it did help in the beginning and prevented many breakouts, it completely dried out my skin and left flakes all over my face. Which is worse? After a few attempts and switches from the twice daily recommendation to only once a day, I decided to give up and go back to an old favourite.
I had been using LaRoche-Posay for most of my twenties and only now realized that it was the best for my skin. It cleanses nicely and even removes make up without any drying or burning from the salicylic acid that Clinique had. If you have normal skin with the occasional cheek and forehead breakouts the I would recommend LaRoche-Posay’s 3 step treatment.
