If you know me then it’s no secret that I have a nail polish obsession. This habit was one I developed from the many years I watched my mom paint a fresh coat on for work at the office the next day. Once I was old enough to do it myself and gained a bit more of a steady hand (but not really), it became a routine to paint my nails weekly, deciding between various colours and quickly swiping it off if I didn’t like the end result. My nail polish collection has steadily increased throughout the years and does not show any signs of slowing down, so I thought it was about time to share some of my favourite colours and brands for those of you looking to grow your own collections.
My current favourites are ones I bought recently and have been wearing on a weekly basis.
SALLY HANSEN COMPLETE SALON MANICURE – GILTY PARTY
This is the most recent addition to my collection and one I’ve been obsessed with. Metallic nails have become the new accessory to an all black outfit and I’ve fallen for it. The sparkles are subdued, but flashy enough to draw attention, which is perfect for these dark winter months. My favourite thing about this polish is that it goes on smoothly and without lumps; something oh-too familiar with my shaky hands. The brush is also wide enough to provide enough nail coverage without having to dip it too many times or use globs of lacquer for just one coat. And to top it all off, it dries incredibly quickly!
OPI – FUNNY BUNNY
This has been my recent go-to polish for those Kardashian nails everyone seems so fond of on Instaram and Pinterest. I’m not going to lie; I’ve also been converted to that simple, yet sexy monochromatic style they are all known for. I’ve had a few OPI colours in my life before and they’ve all pretty much had the same qualifications to them, including this one. The colour range is insane, even down to the various shades they offer. Their bottles are also something I like because of how bulky and easy to hold the brush cap is. Although, what I’m most impressed with when it comes to this brand is the thinness of the polish. Granted, it takes a few coats to get an opaque colour, but that’s what I expected with this shade. However, unlike most other brands that have a very thick formula, OPI feels like applying water to the nails—perfect for controlling those edges and curves. The only downside is that it feels like an eternity when I’m waiting for it to dry.
ESSIE – PENNY TALK & BAHAMA MAMA
I’ve put these two colours together in this post because ESSIE is pretty similar between various shades. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of this polish because it seems almost impossible to apply it without making a mess considering how thick the formula is. However, I came across these two colours and decided it was worth the sacrifice. Like the Sally Hansen polish, ‘Penny Talk’ applies like a dream… It must have something to do with the metallic nature of it, but I’m not a scientist. ‘Bahama Mama’, on the other hand, is a bit trickier, but the colour is gorgeous for fall/winter and well into Spring (I hope). This one is currently on my nails and almost looks better the longer I have it on, if you can believe it.
Any polishes you’ve been loving?
